Eye Movement Integration (EMI)

Eye Movement Integration (EMI) is a gentle method from neurotherapy that helps people process distressing memories and difficult experiences.

The method is based on a natural connection in the brain: eye movements are closely linked to thinking, memory, and emotions. Through guided eye movements, the brain can reprocess difficult memories and integrate them in a more balanced way.

After traumatic experiences, this natural processing can become blocked. Memories may remain “frozen” and continue to trigger strong emotional or physical reactions long after the event has passed.

EMI helps restart this natural processing. Over time, the memory remains part of a person’s life story, but it no longer carries the same emotional intensity.

EMI is a particularly gentle approach and often leads to noticeable relief within a relatively small number of sessions.

It may be helpful for example with:

• distressing or traumatic experiences
• grief and loss
• fears and phobias
• panic attacks
• recurring emotional reactions
• persistent inner tension
